Got That Monkey Off My Back

And on to my feet!

Though slightly delayed, my Monkey socks are DONE, DONE, DONE, DONE, DONE!

Thanks to Cookie A. and to Phoenix Fiberworks, these socks are just lovely.

I love to name my creations so these regal looking socks are now named "Hanuman" after the Hindu monkey god.

I definitely will make theses again... and again... and again... =)

Etsy, Etsy, Bo Betsy

I did it. I succumbed to the power that is Etsy. I was editing my shop and looking around for layout ideas (no, it's not ready to officially open yet) and just happened to look at the yarn dyers. Silly me! I bought! I couldn't stop myself and I bought!

One of those gorgeous yarns was the "Bittersweet" by Phoenix Fiberworks. I hope to finish the second sock by this weekend. LOVE THEM TO PIECES!

On to the other yarns:

These huge skeins (550 yards!) of gorgeous sock yarn are by Fearless Fibers. From left to right, the colorways are: Butterscotch, Lavender Whisper, and Midnight Passion. Not sure if all will be turned into socks (plenty for long ones) but... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

This drool worthy skein is by Sunnyside Ellen, and is called Light Breeze. It's the skein that started this whole mess in the first place. You just don't understand. I. HAD. TO. HAVE. IT! And when it arrived, it was as gorgeous as it appeared on screen.

These three are from the yarn talents of See Jayne Knit Yarns. From top to bottom you are looking at: Lime and Violets, Green Tea, and Plum Camo. Yeah, I got on a green kick but how could I turn these beauties down?

And if that wasn't enough, Yarn4Socks.com was running a SALE! I had resisted right up until the evening of the last day of the sale and then... well see for yourself...

The loot above:

  • Lorna's Laces "Vera"
  • Lorna's Laces "Daffodil"
  • Yarn4Socks "Casapa Seaweed"
  • J.Knits "Boston"
  • Seacoast Handpainted "Gilded Lily"
  • Seacoast Handpainted "Peanut Butter"
  • Fleece Artist "Stone"

And finally (for this entry) I just have to show you 4 stunning balls of yarn that mom brought me back from Italy. The single ball is by Sesia and is called "Ricciolo". It will be used to trim something. I don't know what but something. The other 3 balls are by BBB and are called "Vanity". I wish you could see the colors better. It's lovely. Again, no ideas on the use yet. But for now I'm content just gazing at it in happiness.

Still need to post yarns from swaps and clubs!

Catching Up

Hi there folks!

Sorry for the long pause. Work (and life) sometimes has a way of running you ragged. Quick example: I worked a 17 hour day back on the 21st trying to wrangle 27 documents prepared, reviewed and out the door (electronically) by midnight. Then all those documents had to be printed (1 color copy, single sided and 5 B&W copies, double sided). One of those documents was over 500 pages. AND THEY DIDN'T WANT TO GO TO KINKOS!

Anyway...

This is just a little quicky to let you know what I've been up to on the crafty side.

- My first month's beaded journal page is done and I'm working on the second. I'll post pictures of both later this month.

- I've finished one of the Monkey socks out of a gorgeous colorway called "Bittersweet" by Phoenix Fiberworks. It's coming out fabulously! The pattern is lots of fun and the yarn is just gorgeous done up in this pattern. Don't you think? =)

- Slowly but surely the two socks one two circulars are coming along. Not a technique for zipping along but it does work.

- I've finally gotten the nerve to cast on for my first "sweater". Pictures as it progresses.

The next posts will be with pictures of the TON of yarn I've gotten over the past month (yep, mostly sock yarn) and other neat stuff.
